I luckily caught this guy last week at the beginning of his dive -- a classic pose, just before the wings are tucked in. There were four brown pelicans "performing" for me. My image is nearly full frame -- is it cropped tight enough? Should I have left the strip of land at the top?

Hi Wendell - Classic pose - love those outstretched wings.

There is a bit of a HALO around MR Pelican in places - I usually check again after I save for web - often seems that I have no halo on the original image but when saved with bi-cubic sharper for web - I develop a Halo.
I would get rid of the strip of land - but thats just my personal tastes.

    Good show!!

Hi Wendell, I like your image here - looks good! Great pose and back detail - great action. I too would be tempted to get rid of the strip of land.

    Well done!

Wonderful image Wendell, love the diving pose with the wing spread and good feather details. You caught the action at a wonderful moment. Head seem to be a bit turning away, but no big deal. Agree about the halo and the line at the top.

Hi Wendell .... next time go vertical :) Agree on getting rid of the land since the wing tip is merging.

Exposure wise check out the original, I think its a little under, those birds need a lot of light but then the small white around the head can be a problem !!!
