It was snowing here this morning when I went back out to Pass Creek to look for more Bald Eagle photos. I like the snow, the shadowy cottonwood branches and the generally rough appearance of the bird...it reminds me that it can be pretty tough out there.

Comments and critique welcome as always! Thanks for looking!

    Cheers!

Nice shot, the rough look, at least the dark head feathers and lack of full orange beak are a sign it is not quite mature.

I like this a lot Bruce... your title is very fitting, and there is definitley a mood/feeling conveyed by this one.

Really does look cold and miserable - really captures the mood. May be worth tidying up some of the clipped twigs at the edges of the frame.

Thanks Ben, John and Tony, I agree Ben that this is probably an individual that is just on the cusp of becoming a 'full adult'. I think it is the same individual that I posted yesterday with the trout, but can't be sure. Tony, I already did a fair bit of work with twigs/small branches, but decided that I was okay with those remaining because they kind of framed the bird and gave a real indication of its habitat. That said, I can definitely see where cleaning more of them up would work as well.

    Cheers!

I agree, the twigs give a good indication of the habitat, Bruce - it's just the tiny clipped pieces at the edges that aren't attached to anything I was meaning.
