one of your firsts!!? not too bad!!! tons better than mine. a lower perspective would be better. down at eye level! as presented, i would add some canvas in front of the bird to give it some room to swim into. may clone out the specular highlights and one of the double catchlights in the eye. really nice looking bird and you did well!!!!

Craig, nice and sharp! I would only wish for more room in the front to swim into . . .

hi craig - Harold covered the main points very nicely - bit more space up front for my tastes.
Dont know about that spot metering though. :)

Really nice Craig !! Best getting them looking good out of the camera for minimal PS work like you did here

The room up front as mentioned is important and agree with Lance on the spot metering?

Love the feather detail, feather pattern, the water trail behind the bird, and the blue color in the water. The black line on top right distracts a bit.

Nice one, what did you spot meter-off? Image averages basically mid-gray to start with? I am on work monitor so I could be wrong, is it a tad underexposed?

Needs more room to swim, a tad tight. I love this species.

I like the exposure techs but did you use any EV - well done?
