Default Theme - Landscape - Woods @ Akaka Falls Hawaii

Time for a new theme of the week.

As I am new to digital, my images will reflect our trip to the islands, for the most part. My landscape images of the past have yet to be digitized from slides.

This image was taken along the trail to Akaka Falls, on the Big Island. It is a short hike, from the parking lot, should you get the chance to go there. Well worth the walk and the trail to the falls has visions to last through a few hours of shooting. I especially liked the "jungle environs" of this area of the woods. It appeared to be from another time, without the hand of man.

Modifications included; Emboss, B&W conversion, Hue/Saturation, Tint, Vibrance/Saturation and Lens Correction - Distortion of Frame.

    Enjoy!

Mark, Very natural color tones for this. I'm thinking maybe a bit more embossing or dodging and burning to give the image a bit of definition. Lets see what others say.

I really like the treatment Mark! The foliage is just obscure enough to allow my imagination to run wild. I see all sorts of critters in there that I'm sure are not really there. I could stare at this for hours. The frame will have to grow on me. :D I like how you did it. I just don't know if I like it on this landscape or not.

Mark - this is really nice and intriguing! I see a teepee and critters everywhere:) It has a wonderful texture to it.

You don't see the snakes, lizards and dinasaurs, Cheryl, Patti and Mike? Maybe it does need a little more contrast! ;) :D

As for the frame ... would agree with you Patti. It was something I found and just had to try once. May again, but need to refine it a little. Nice for an abstract when we get back to that theme ... I think.

Mark, I like Denises' idea of embossing to add some depth to it. Might bring out some more definition in the elements.
