Nice job of cloning out the tow rope from the ski boat:) EX looks good on whites, some noise on the dark back. Maybe could've opened up a stop to get more SS, but a very cool action shot of a neat little duck.

Suzanne love the action you captured and the pretty lighting. Very nice exposure as well and the flying water droplets adds a lot to this image. Many thanks for sharing.

Wow, Suzanne, that is some action shot and the purple I'm seeing on the head is awesome. I still don't have any buffleheads although I see them on the Missouri River sometimes. I'm jealous.

    Suzanne:

My very first thought was like Jim, he looks like he is skiing! The feet angled up are great.
Remarkable capture at that shutter speed. Whites well exposed, sheen on head well shown.

Our buffle heads are very skittish, so never see shots like this from our area. Congrats

The shutter speed is 1/2000s. I was surprised about the sharpness, too, and checked the EXIF.

Suzanne, great timing and cool pose, I particularly like that we can see the feet well. Exposure looks good and it does not look oversharpened on my monitor. Does it need a bit CW rotation?

This pose is actually quite comical!! Good action, Suzanne. I also feel the image needs some CW rotation, and perhaps a bit more crop at right. The whites on the breast seem a bit muddy...did you do some S/H, or is this individual naturally a bit dirty?

I saw this one a few weeks back and did not have a chance to comment. I am glad that I found it again. It is a contest winner in my opinion. Killer pose; the colorful "helmet" is to die for. EXP, SH, and the skidding are perfect. I believe that it could stand some CCW rotation. The head angle is dead perfect; same with the rendition of the head colors. I cannot tell you how much I love this one. Enter it in BBC please.

Do you have some more room all around? I would love to see the ORIG capture.

Thank you Artie. I have reduced the original image to a Jpeg but am unsure of how to add it to this message .It was a fair sized crop so lots of room around it still

Absolutely beautiful! And one question. Several folks mentioned some rotation might be good. Some of the calm water in the backgrnd looks level to my eye. Is the long line of the duck's landing splash at an angle to the calm water and therefore naturally not straight across? Or would rotating the splash line to level be correct?

It would make sense to me that the splash line needs to be level not matter what the BKGR looks like....

Thanks Suzanne. I shall offer a crop or two tomorrow. On seeing the original, I am not so sure about the need to level it....

ps: I see that you did some pretty fancy work on the dark streaks. When you take a close look, you can see some problems. The bird however held up just great to the large crop.

There are lots of possible crops. Above is just one. You did quite well with the huge crop....

Hi Suzanne, perhaps you didn't see my question in pane #9:

The whites on the breast seem a bit muddy...did you do some S/H, or is this individual naturally a bit dirty?
The reposts do confirm my suspicion that the breast was darkened somewhat - possibly via burning. I much prefer the whites on the two reposts...

Like Artie says, you did quite well with the huge crop!:)
