Captured this image earlier this week while co-leading a workshop with Doug Brown.
Early morning light at the crane pools. Cropped a crane off the right side, cleaned up some stuff in the water and added a bit of canvas on the left. Selective Sharpening on the crane.

Hey Keith, I just love take off shots when they are timed correctly, and you have achieved just that. Great take off posture, and I like the trailing water from the feet. If anything, I would take a bit off the bottom.
Excellent timing as mentioned, wing position, light. I could see taking a sliver off the bottom as Stuart mentioned, but very nice as is.
This is the type of crane shot that I miss in Michigan. We have lots of birds, but so far, have never been able to get in close enough for take off shots from the marshes.
Beautiful light, action, and detail. As already stated, cropping off a bit on bottom brings the eye more to the bird. I'd also straighten the horizon with a slight CW rotation.
It is a very very good shoot.
I have a lot of experience about cranes and this situation on the water is the best to take a good photo.
The light is perfect and also the dinamic situation.
Good eye
Impressive capture Keith... outside of the minor crop suggestion along the bottom, there isn't much to suggest on this one for improvement... great timing, wing position and detail. Congrats!
