Default Yellow-Rumped Warbler (testing new Canon 7D)

I have recently purchased a Canon 7D to complement my 1D mark III. So far, I have been pretty happy with the 7D as far as autofocus and high ISO performance are concerned. This photograph was taken in my backyard this afternoon.

    Canon 7D + 800mm f/5.6L IS lens, ISO 1600, 1/1600s, f/5.6

Very nicely exposed and I like the look of the BG, gives him some placement in the environment. Sharpness looks good and I like the perch. Only wish his toes weren't covered by the leaf and I'd tone down the dark areas in the BG. Congrats

busy Bg is a bit distracting, but loved the pose and details in the frame, can you share the your opinoin on your pick between the 7D and mark III.

Thanks for the tips, Brian. I should have moved a little to the left. The bird was there for only a few seconds, though.

Thanks, Kiran. Compared to the 1Dmk3, I think the 7D's autofocus is almost as fast. I had a shot where there were tree branches in front of and behind a bird, and the 7D was able to attain and lock focus on the bird's eye without any focus hunting at all (let me know if you need to see the photo). I have only tried center AF point with AF expansion so far. High ISO performance at ISO 1600 is about the same.

The only discernable difference between the two cameras is the shutter noise. The 1Dmk3 sounds like a machine gun. The 7D sounds pretty fast too, but you can tell it's a camera :). I didn't think there would be that big a difference between 10fps and 8fps. The 7D's shutter is more quiet, thus it's less likely to scare birds away. Hope this helps.
