    The speed at which these Pied Kingfishers dive is incredible. They fold their wings behind them, forming an arrow type shape. Although their beaks are sharp at the end, they actually catch the fish in the beak, and dont spear them. Taken in the Pilanesberg nature reserve. Added canvas below as this guy dived straight down.

    The diagonal lines in the background accentuate the sense of speed and action. It goes with out saying great timing. Perfect wing position for the image and I like the inclusion of his take off perch.

    This is a great looking bird, Suart. The only thing that would make it better for me is if it were looking my direction a bit.

    Perfect timing and great pose, sharp as tack with clean BG. Well done, Stu.

    Cool pose, good eye contact and BG. I might reduce the blue saturation on the right underwing.

    Good catch, Stuart. They fly like arrows and are hard to catch this well. Nice to have the perch included and BG works well.
