Nice light, colours, pose and BG. Wish for a nicer perch. Is it a big crop? I can't see much fine detail on the head area.

I like the angle, pose, eye contact and BG. There is a bit of noise in the dark area of the wings. As for the crop, I had the same question as Ofer, could be a 7D thing.

Great pose pose and eye contact Arash. The perch still comes up very bright on my monitor, I might try to burn it in some more.

Arash, I like the stretching wing pose, together with eye contact. I feel a touch of contrast will boost this, and could you have made the perch vertical in your pp work.

There's something amiss with the pp here....look at the top of the head and down the back. Did you select the bird and then do something to the bg? I agree that detail seems to be lacking and the image looks a bit soft to me, overall.

Thanks Grace, I have no idea about what you are referring to.

Arash, I see it even more in the larger image. Look at the top of the head, above the eye and running down the back. There's a lack of sharpness to the edge, almost a smudgy look to it. In my own processing, I get that when I select something and then fail to refine the edge. Perhaps I'm being too critical.

Thanks Grace, the head plumage looks normal to me compared to other shots that I have from this specie like the one below, can't really see anything unusual about it, and no, I did not select the head or BG in the processing, it is just cropped and resized, anyhow, appreciate the input.

I see what Grace is refering to. Did you select the bird and then blur the BG slightly. I see it around the top of the head at the edge where it meets the BG and the perch as well...it kind of fades into the BG and the perch seems to lack detail.

I like the wing stretch and eye contact.

I did not select the BG to blur it but I sharpened the bird selectively it might be that sharpening created some halos around the head edge and contributes to detail looking coarse(?), I will go back to the RAW and reprocess this with less sharpening.

what kind of screen are you using to view this image?

Hi Arash, The bird right above here looks absolutely perfect. I think you uncovered what may have caused this in your explanation. I'm viewing on a Dell 24 inch monitor. Kind of old. Thank you for taking my critique constructively and I hope that I did not insult.

Grace, absolutely not I welcome and appreciate all critique. Is your Dell 24" CRT or LCD? I am asking because that might explain why I have a hard time seeing these artifacts where they are and will help me better process the files in future.

I will repost a corrected version later to see if it improves this problem.
