This image was created this morning in LaJolla with the handheld Canon 400mm f/4 IS DO lens and the EOS-50D. ISO 200. Evaluative metering at zero: 1/1000 sec. at f/6.3. Pretty much straight out of the camera; no crop.

Nice! I love the BG color very much. I like the composition and the pose. Details and colors look great. The best part-It was composed in-camera and of course the Alfalfa hairdo!

Great details here. Love the blue BG, yes I know it's one of your favorites.
Love the careful composition and eye contact.

Great colors and feather details, these birds can give really good facial expressions.
With the bill pointing down I can see this as vertical composition too.

Great light, plumage detail, colours and BG. These birds seem to have heaps of character. Looks like a great place.

Excellent sharpness, details (even in the white feathers), colors and exposure ! Why am I not surprised ? ;)

    Composition-wise I think I would crop tighter.

Love the comp and hairdo. Beautiful colors and sharpness and only suggestion can offer is a tad boost on the contrast for the Pele. Can see why you love that place.

Great image-good control of the exposure--in what looks like bright light. I love the variety of coool poses that can be presented with the pelicans. Hope to see some myself someday!
