    Default Anna's Hummingbird Contest Win

I know I posted this image last spring, but I wanted to share it again because it recently won second place in the flora category (somehow it got placed in the wrong category) of a local contest. Nothing big, but there were 750 entries, and I got a cash prize and a publication.

These bleeding hearts were selected from a local nursery to create a vertical composition. I placed them below the feeder then removed the feeder.

Congratulations on the contest win, I like the simple design and eye contact. What is the white fluff on the bill or is this some kind of liquid?

Lovely image! I can see why it won an award. I especially like the natural light in here.

    Thanks everybody.

Axel, that fluff is actually thread from my fraying basketball hoop. (I hang the feeder from the rim) This female was picking at for a while before she came to the flowers. I assume it is for nesting material.

Congratulations Aidan. I missed your first post. Love the flower and BG, very nice action of the hummer and great wing position. Way to go.

Congrats Aidan, and a great choice for a winner. How is that hovering angle from the HB. Must have a sore neck after all the feeding.
