    Default Conowingo Eagle

This is my first post in this forum. I got the opportunity to use our Sigma 300-800 lens yesterday to photograph eagles at the Conowingo Dam. There were over 100 eagles present but they did little flying until about 9:30 am. Then there was lots of action for a time. This bird gave a good turn into the light, but wish for a bit better head angle. Hope you enjoy! C&C welcome

    Camera specs: D300, Sigma 300-800 @800 mm, 1/1600s @f8, ISO 800, EC +.7

Levels, curves, lightened the eye, Topaz Denoise for noise, sharpening

This is nice flight pose Linda. Agree on the head turn. I would also try and lighten the head a bit.
Other then that a real nice image.

Nice banking pose with wind detail. Agree that a better head angle would have been nicer. Linear burn may bring up a bit more detail in the tail. Wondering about a slightly warmer colour temp.

Super banking pose Linda. Some good suggestions to enhance made. Can see some small halo's too. Little bit of TLC and this will be superb. TFS

Hi Linda, Pretty nice first post. I like the view of the back of the wings and and the spread tail is a plus. I hope you do not mind but I took this image into Photoshop and ran linear burn on the tail and lightened the head a little as suggested above (sorry I can't so anything about the head angle:D). I think these edits helps but you make the final determination. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice first post, I like the banking pose, fanned tail and sharpness. I might lighten the area on the head/neck that is not sunlit. I was at Conowingo yesterday, too, and had no idea other BPNers were there. Keep them coming!

Nice banking pose, subject, and exposure. To avoid the halos try sharpening the bird only.

Thanks all. I've been reading posts for almost 2 years and have learned a lot. But, nothing can help understand what makes a good image than getting comments on one you made and processed yourself. Joining has big advantages.

Now that others have mentioned it, I see the halos. I will try selecting and sharpening the bird only. Thanks for the tip. Burning the tail also helps. Lots to learn. Thanks for the tips.

Fantastic details in every single feather here...I loved the pose... I'm new to processing myself so would like to stay off the topic... :P..

    -Cheers,
