They were the days... (well, don't really miss them that much, as mistakes were expensive but was fun and that's all that matters). Like this even if soft as suits it. Love the comp too. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Phil: What a gorgeous composition of America's big cat. Has an old school look to it for sure but I like it.

P.S. My wife loves your Avatar image - "Denny Crane, Denny Crane!"

I am sure the original slide is even better than as presented.
How are you scanning the images?

Used Nik White Neutralizer, and a quick Curves adjustment, and color brushing.

Yes, Charles the chrome has a lot more fidelity than the scanner can reproduce. I am using A Minolta Dimage Dual Scan VI. Most desktop scanners I have used really do not cut it. My pockets are not that deep enough for a drum scanner. Nik's white looks pretty decent as I like what it did to my image. IMHO I try to match the color and light from the original scene as this was a very low light and overcast day.

Lovely image of this beautiful cat. I like the diagonal comp, coat texture, and the eyes. Chas repost works well. Very nicely done!

Chas repost is to die for. As he said, I'm sure the original is better too.

Nice image. As mentioned diagonal comp works well here. The repost by Chas looks good. I know what you mean by the limitations with the scanner (I use same one).

The snow in the re post looks like what we expect snow to look like however this is not how the scene looked at the time as per lighting conditions at the time. IMHO the cat looks blown out to me in the repost (no offense Chas) but I got to be honest : )

Does the snow also lack detail on your monitor, if so perhaps you are in need of adjustment.

    Best,

    Best,

    Chas

Used a Spyder2 to calibrate :) Guess I just like the darker version of the cat and the lighter rendition of the snow.

Like the repost a lot. Like the details in the mtn lion and the intense stare.
