    Default Spotted Hyena Approaching

Created this image in September in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. These spotted hyenas have a den right next to the road close to one of the private camps, and we spent some time with them whenever we passed the den.

This one came and lay down right next to my window. I specifically went for central framing here - because I can ;).

    Techs:
    Canon 40D with 100-400mm L IS USM @ 150mm
    f5.6 @ 1/800 SS @ ISO-400
    Exp +0.3
This is pretty much full frame.

Morkel, Like this one as it is, especially the way he is looking at you without raising the head. Subject sharp throughout, nice DOF for BG. Fur colour tones in well with the beautiful Kalahari sand. AM/PM shot? Framing works for me. I have missed out on seeing them anywhere in KTP. Need to go back there....

Nice eye contact, Morkel! If one puts one's prejudices aside, these are such cute animals!

This guy looks quite young Mork, and Im amazed he casually strolled up to you. Central placement was the only way to go. Great close up sighting mate.

Hi Morkel: Neat image. He is giving you quite the look and I love those big front paws. Nice detail in all that fur on his back as well. Nice one.

Cool capture Morkel and the pose is very nice with the slight head turned upward. Excellent eye contact as well. Congratulations on a fine image.

Well done, Morkel! You have captured the classic head down, eyes up hyena with great direct eye contact. Subject center comp works well. Very nice.
