Another result in my exploration of HDR. I have just started a blog about my journey - and will be showcasing our wonderful Southern Africa to you through that blog in the future as I travel all across South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe (once Mugabe is out) and Mozambique...
This particular scene was shot close to my home on the South African highveld. A battered old wreckage faces another onslaught from the highveld's notorious thunderstorms.
A 3-shot HDR in Photomatix with a lot of PS work to bring out details in the sky, tone down highlights, avoid halos and curb chromatic abberation of my cheap lens. Will hopefully be getting a Canon 16-35mm f2.8 L II soon...
Your comments highly appreciated...
Techs:
Canon 1000D with 18-55mm IS lens @ 18mm
f16 @ ISO-200
tripod mounted in strong wind
Auto-exposure bracketing
Morkel, Really nice looking image. I'm critiquing this because you had originally posted it in OOTB. I think it is a bit tight on the sides. Nice dramatic sky. I think you did a nce job w/ the tweaks.
Love it HDR wise remember you can go grungier if you want !!! Move the first three sliders all the way to the right and increase micro contrast/reduce smoothing !!! ... also can process twice if you wish They can really turn out wild.. all depends on your intentions.
They are fun images an can be done in the middle of the day !!!
Beautiful shot Morkel. The sky is awesome, by the way. What about a landscape version with the car off to the side a little. I bet that would look cool as well!
Great work Bro. Love the subject matter and agree with Denise it's tight. I think a lower angle may also be a good thing to aim for next time. I'll check that blog mate. ;)
