Beautiful Image.. Like the HA and the position of the wings.. Exposure looks very good. I have one question though. What is that stuff on the ice in front of the bird.. Was this a baited bird..???
Dave
That is a good point . A local couple spend in the region of a $1000 a month to feed all the birds that come to the Lagoon to spend the winter it is all healthy food for wild birds ,many species of ducks and swans including Trumpeters spend the winter months here and needless to say it is a very popular spot with all the local photographers to grab some flying shots as the birds fly in from all over the lagoon to feast, even birds that do not take the feed hang around and unusual species are often found visiting as well .
This year the DOF and marine animals have forbidden the feeding of wild birds here ,I am not sure if this is a good thing or not ,as now it will be all the locals just feeding white bread to all the inhabitants rather than healthy grains etc.
I think too that a lot of these visiting birds who come here for the food may also go a little hungry as it is now part of their reason for being here over the last few years
So in answer to your question I guess this is a baited bird and it was oats on the ice you spotted
Suzanne:
Thanks you for your prompt answer. I wasn't sure what that was, but I thought it might be some type of native weed seeds that had blown onto the ice.. Like I said earlier... Beautiful image..
Dave
Great landing Suzanne! Love the butt slide. :D
I am not so keen on feeding wild animals as they are more than adept at finding food for themselves. In my "work" as a wildlife rescue/rehab volunteer it's part of my role to educate the public on the impact of feeding, or at least suggest the better kinds of food to offer, which is the case above. Better than plain bread for sure. :)
