I often get requests for a print of this photo because, "It looks like a painting." Sometimes I'm a little hurt because it was meant to be a photograph.:) Whichever you choose, I hope you enjoy the colors of the northern harrier and the Kansas prairie where the image was taken.

Canon 40D; Canon 300 F4 L IS; 1/1250; F/5.6; ISO 200; Handheld from my truck window while my friend was driving wrecklessly in his "harrier chasing" mode. Image cropped significantly.

Nice "painting" Danny! I like the contrasts between the soft BG and the sharp hawk. The warmth of the overall image is nice. I would be tempted to run an illustration treatment on this (OOTB).

Hi Danny: I'm so green in PP lab that I don't even know what that is! By the way I loaded CS4 Extended on both of my computers last night so I'm getting pretty excited!!!!! I don't think I'll be seeing much of Lightroom anymore since I never needed the catalog function of that program anyway. Take care.

Beautiful colors and composition Danny and I can see how this would make a very lovely painting. But very interesting photograph showing off the fanned tail. Thanks for sharing.

I'm starting to think I live in the wrong end of Missouri, Danny. You really have some beautiful moments and this is certainly one of them. Looks like a photo to me - but I'd give it a spin through the dry brush filter and see what happens...

Hi Julie: I'd like to give Missouri credit but this shot was taken in central Kansas, a little closer to you.
