Beautiful copper, Daniel. If this were mine, I'd take about half the distance from the top of the frame to the top of the copper off and add a little canvas to the left side, putting him closer to the upper 1/3 of the frame. I'd also think about toning down the brighter spots in the BG just a little. The one closest to his face is pulling my eye away quite a bit. Try using the clone brush at 30% and set to "darken" using a nearby area as the clone source.

I also see that the front back wing is a bit OOF. You might try a little more selective sharpening there to see if you can crisp that up a little more.

Beautiful butterfly, Daniel, and excellent composition. Like the clean BG. Julie nailed the critique.

Hi Julie: Just downloaded CS4 on my computer last night and waiting for PS CS4 for Nature Photographers from Artie's store. This will be a fun project for me to work on, using your recommendations. I'll report back to you! Thanks.

Hi Danny, I like the curvature of the leaf, together with the colours on the butterfly.

Hey Danny, works for me, I agree on the white areas in the BG, do a little blending of those, and I personaly don't mind the positioning and crop.

Thanks everybody for all the comments. I'm still a bit nervous about posting in this gallery, as I'm more comfortable with birds and wildlife, but you guys make me feel right at home! Landscape, on the other hand is still a little scary (smile).

I agree with Jules, except that your crop looks good to me. I like the attitude of this butterfy (if butterflies can have attitude), as well as the fluff on the lower parts.
