Wonderful light and good detail. The BG is fine to me and there is good seperation between the bird and the BG.

Hi Michael, I like the flying pose with the wings in a downward position. I like how the slight blur of the wings also adds a sense of movement. I see good detail in the head and body of the bird and you have handle the exposure very nicely in my judgement. The trailing feet with water drops adds interest. To answer your question, I think the background works quite well. Overall a nice image. Thanks for sharing.

Good timing here with the full downstroke. Beautiful early morning light - too bad the front wing cast such a strong shadow on the far one. Good sharpness - and I love the trailing water drops. I would have preferred to see the bird a bit higher in the frame. Yes, BG is very attractive...I would only lighten the black area directly over the back (clone stamp: soft brush, 30-40% opacity may be an option - using neighboring green/brown pixels). Well done!

A beautiful shot. Wish the wing tips were sharp.

This looks wonderful to me Michael. I love the colors in the bg and the flying water off the feet adds just the right amount of interest.
