    Hi All
This Wild Turkey (male) in the snow, not straw, is a Thanksgiving gift to all those US ETL folks.
It was captured with a Canon 50D and 100-400mm @ 180mm, 1/500 at f/6.7, pattern metering with +0.5 EV, aperture priority, ISO 640.

    C & C's much appreciated.

    Cheers
    Gail

Fine looking bird and love the setting ... does look cold :)

I think for most of these your always better off in manual, just metering of the snow. With this one your compensation will vary according to how much bird you have in frame, similar to flight shots !!!

Thanks Alfred - definitely a technique I need to remember to use. Should have snow for a while, so lots of time to practice.

    Thanks again

Love the snow on back of the bird, give me a feeling of coldness to the bird. The walking away pose and snow also give me the lonely feeling though.

Really nice Gail, WB looks spot on. I like the high key look and the walking away pose. Might try to sharpen the head/eye area a bit, or maybe you just lost IQ in conversion to jpeg. Really like it.

Thanks Jackie - Take a look at the head in closer detail, I agree it would be nice if it popped out a bit more.

    Cheers
    Gail
