Well here is another look at this adult Red-tailed Hawk she is quite the busy hawk defending her territory
from other Hawks. I like the background on this shot better then the previous post.:)

    Thanks For Looking

I like the angle, eye contact, complementing BG and particularly the fanned tail and might sharpen the bird a tad more. What ISO, aperture and shutter speed did you use?

Great shot, I love the top view, eye contact, light, background. Whats not to like? I even liked it before adding sharpening.

James this is truly a fantastic capture. i really enjoying every bit of its part. nice bg too. i would somehow like the original post better. second post is also good in terms of sharpness suggested by Axel.

the reason i like the original is the less sharpness and soft looking bird keeps the momentum of flying/soaring and the kind of bg strokes you have it goes with this smoothness of bird very well.

Sweet shot James, I love hoe the hawk stands out against the bg. I find RTH's tough to sharpen just right. I like the first post more I think with less sharpening.

She's a beauty, nicely captured and composed. As others, I love the fanned tail here.

A more fanned tail on this one too Jim. Very sweet. The repost looks a tad oversharpened now for my tastes--but I give little worry to sharpening presentations with a jpg. I do like the bg texture though you might check out toning it down a little and maybe adding a bit of color through saturation and see how that looks. More canvas at the bottom would raise him up in the frame and give him a fair ammount of extra power. Go ahead and fix the missing feather. Very strong subject and awesome top view.!

    Lovely spread James.

What's confusing is that the tail is in focus, the heads in decent focus along with the front of the dorsal view of the wings, but the trailing edges are not.

On a glide, their should be no movement their relative to the rest of the body so it wouldn't be motion blur.

Did you perhaps do some blur of the background and catch the back edge of the wings?

You must have this gal trained James she is giving you some of the most amazing topside shots. I agree with you that the bg in this one shows off the bird a little better than some of the other images you have posted but I would be happy with just about any of them. Hopefully that feather grows back in and you can get more images without the gap. Thanks for continuing to share this beautiful hawk.
