Thanks Dave! Come on over! As far as putting this is Avian, I thought about it, but I put it here so you other guys can practice the art of critique. Learning this is very important(critique) because it is very useful in applying to your own images, and that is IMO the best way to improve them.
I also critiqued this image, which I am purposely withholding, and there are 3 problems that I'm sure would be mentioned at Avian. Two have straightforward solutions, one doesn't. Any guesses? regards~Bill
This is some good work. I like the vert and you present a sharp eye, nice HA (maybe a tad away?) and whites have good detail & texture. I would add a bit to the bottom and some of the feathers seem to have a peach color cast on them - well done.

Jeff: I actually liked the head angle, and it looked more interesting than a number of images taken at the same time with the usual "approved" HA. The image was taken under low contrast light (overcast). Notice any shadows? This is the root of another problem. regards~Bill
Hmmm... I don't see anything wrong with this image. HA looks fine to me, the feet a bit slant but you already corrected that in the repost. If I have to make one wild guess, maybe the legs are a bit underexpose?
Hi William - a lot to like here - the extra room at the bottom is a definite improvement and was the first thing I noticed.
HA does look slightly away - there also does appear to be some colour cast on the breast area.
Is it just my eye's or is there a halo present around the legs and bill??
Like the pose - in a perfect world the raised foot just a little higher would have just given that bit of seperation and IMHO been stronger.
Nice work!!
The halos, which I noticed primarily around the bill was #2. Got more noticeable due to jpeg conversion, but I'm thinking it may have originated in ACR with the "clarity" slider. Have to go way back in the workflow to eliminate it.
Thanaboon: you are correct as well(#3). Under low contrast light the small shadows that help define detail are absent, or at least greatly reduced.
I don't think we are seeing a color cast, but the peach color from the surroundings reflected on the white feathers.
You guys covered my critical assessment pretty quickly. Any more that I missed?
regards~Bill

It is a lovely image Bill ... as mentioned just tight on the bottom, the reposts looks mighty fine All else I can think to do is darken the pupil a bit more, makes it appear sharper. Can also selectively sharpen the feathers flowing from the crest Big Congrats on this one !!!!
:):cool:I like your composition, image and capture Bill,
The vertical crop does work well here. The color rendition is sweet, the head angle as mentioned, does not bother me, lets just say that your subject was busy looking at something in his natural habitat that caught his attention...sweet image, well done Sir. Looking forward to more...
