I felt this capture told a nice story. Wish I had a grandparent to include. He/she may have been in the BG. I photographed this scene at F11 to attain focus of all subjects. Should have stopped down a bit more to get the adult black skimmer totally in focus but hind sight is 20/20. Added a small amount of canvas on top.

Canon 40D, Canon 400 DO & 1.4 @ 560mm
F11, 1/1000, ISO 400, manual mode
Gitzo tripod, Mongoose head

Hi Marina,
What a cute image! The DOF issue does not bother me as I am enjoying the story so much. The egg-shell takes it over the top and really serves to emphasise the vulnerability of the tiny chick.

Hi Marina, I like the inclusion of the chick, together with the broken egg. With F/11 and your FL, you should have had the parent in focus. Was your focus point not more to the left.
