I love it, great pose, good background and I even like the perch which while large, is very natural looking.

I might clone out the upper right leaf, but thats a minor nit.

    Hi John,
Love the pose, perch and detail. I might be tempted to tone down the white arc and possibly apply a little NR to the BG?

Thank you Ben, Arsdel and Nicki for your kind comments and helpful suggestions.

I like both the leaf (this is a forest species, and composition-wise it takes my eye in rather than out of the image) and the pale crescent in the background (I like the way the curve mirrors the bird's outline and provides a frame). Toning down the background curve is a sound idea and I will do that and sort the background noise next time I process the image.

what a beautiful bird...would some to see more images of this fellow... superbly exposed...
I agree with some NR for the BG and maybe tone it down a tad to make the bird stand out...

    -Cheers,
    Rohan

Beautiful bird! The white crescent is a bit distracting, but I see your point of the framing. As I scroll this image up making almost the top of your crescent the ending point for your composition, without any green above it, it frames it very nicely, without being distracting, so perhaps you might want to just consider cropping a little different. I like the birds inqusitive expression.

Nice Image. The yellow on the head is a balancing factor for me. I am okay by the crecent since it is a part of nature photography IMO.
