    Here's an image taken back in the film days in my garden. At that time, I didn't know how important the BG is in any photo. It's too busy in this photo IMO.

    Mamiya 645, Mamiya Secor 80 mm lens with 2X TC, Fuji Velvia film and my Bogen tripod.

    Charles, Your flower stands out well from the BG. I like the composition.

    Yes, the BG is a bit busy but it's also nicely diffused. I'd be more concerned with the really dark areas right above the flower - I find them more distracting than the overall foliage. That said, it's a lovely flower and I really think you could do a little masking/cloning on those dark areas and this would be a lovely floral image.

    Beautiful flower, Charles. Love the colors. BG is a bit distracting, but not very bad IMO.
