Default First image post - Red-necked Avocet

This shot has been cropped slightly for composition and to remove stray legs and wings of other Avocets since they never travel alone.

    Canon 40D, 400/5.6L, F/8, ISO400, 1/1600th, -1/3 EV

what a beautiful species... superb details in the whites exposed perfectly...nice to see a clear separation in bill and body...agree with harshad ji on the composition though...

Wonderful first post and welcome. You have done a tremendous job exposing for the whites here. The details in those wing and tail feathers are amazing and they just pop right off of the screen. You have a nice angle on the bird too. THe only thing that I wish for is a bit more room on the top and bottom. Thank you for posting this lovely bird.

Hi Darryl: Easy to comment on a beauty such as this. I love the lighting on the bird and the colors are very nicely handled. The bokeh is absoulutely wonderful!

That eye ring looks superb. Yeah, the crop is a bit tight, but not so much that it spoils the image. Would the original allow a vertical crop?
