Taken recently on an extremly foggy morning at Shaw Nature Reserve, just a few miles from my house. I was walking through the tallgrass prairie unit when this doe became separated from four other whitetails. She kept approaching closer and closer to me, apparently thinking I was one of her gang and peered at me through the big bluestem grass. Full frame except cropped to 8 x 10 aspect ratio. Self critique includes: "Stop down a little DB - you've got a lot of shutter speed left!" P.S. No room left on bottom for virtual legs.

DB,
I like your self critique. The wetness in the grass and the water droplets give a very realistic feeling to this image. I don't care about the virtual stuff...I love it, feels like I am there watching her.
I like the feel of this one too. Especially the shining dew drops and the backlit tail. I'm okay with the missing feet. I might try this as a vertical crop as well since the darker FG grass on the LRC keeps drawing my eye.
I like this image. I thought about a vertical, but then the overall feel of this image would be lost. I don't mind the shallow depth of field. It looks like a painting. Thanks for sharing.
This is lovely Danny. Great feel to it and don't mind F4. Like the comp too as I feel the space is important and adds with the extra habitat and morning dew. Well done.
Wonderful captured moment Danny and the low angle is excellent making one feel much more intimate with the Doe. Peeking through the tall grasses and the backlighting all create a wonderful mood and feeling to this capture. Like this a lot !! Well done and thanks for sharing.
Hey Danny, I really like this. Just love the inquisitive eye contact, and the dew drops puts this over the top. Cant help thinking that single blade of grass falling diagonally across her could have some time spent on removing it. Should be pretty easy. Cheers.
Very nice mood, love the eye contact and foreground. I may have taken this as a vertical to include the virtual feet even if they didn't show. Very nice colors too.
Dan...I like this attentive pose, direct stare, and warning tail up...grass color with dew on them.
Whitetails are one of my favourites...thanks for sharing
