Theme: Rose

I toned this rose image using a combination of channel mixer, hue/saturation, and curves layers. I also applied an orton effect, a blur overlay masking out the center, and a slight vignette. Any C&C are welcome!

I like the soft, glowing, dreamy look you've achieved. The low saturation adds nicely to the effect. To my eye, the visual weight is already sufficiently in the lower right, even though the center of the flower is in the center of the frame. That, together with the diagonal arrangement of the main body of the flower and the nearly triangular petal at the upper left, adds just the right dynamic balance.

BTW, just read on "eager to learn" that underexposure will bring out more shadow details
and add a third dimension to the image

Dave, I habitually underexpose about one/third of a stop because I've found that way I usually get the best exposure and details.

... not only that but most reds/yellow tones need to be desaturated .... right out of the camera properly exposed they seem to lack detail by being over.
