    Juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk
    Southern, California

    I went with a loose crop on this image as I didn't want to crop away tighter as to degrade this image. I really like the markings on this little Hawk and from what I understand the eyes go through three color changes(Brown-Yellow-Red)
    and this little one is well on its way to adult plumage I hope you like it.

    Nikon D300 AFS 600 F4
    ISO 500 F7.1 1/2000

    James, excellent catch and I know from experience that Sharpies are quite a challenge to get in flight. Totally understand your reason for the crop and I actually like it. Plenty of detail and agree that they have very nice markings underneath. Great job Man, Conrats

    Hey James,
    You know my love of the crop tooL....but in this case teh extra space works very well. Super pose and eye contact with very nice details throughout!

    Like the space. You captured a lot of detail under the wings, was there some reflected light from below?

    Good underwing details and eye contact, I might crop it a bit tighter.

    very nice underwing details captured...i liked the eye contact and soaring pose... personally i prefer this crop over anything tighter... :)

    EXP is perfect against blue sky, love the details and eye contact, wish for slightly better beak angle
