    Default Black Oystercatcher

Had a very nice day last week with nice light--which is becoming a rarity out here in the PNW now.
Our local little flock of Black Oystercatchers has returned to spend the winter. They were really quite obliging--as they are usually very hard to get close to.

    Bonnie:

Very nice, shooting angle, head angle, exposure, perch, and background.

I might try a version with the bright water reflections by the breast toned down, very minor, and if you have more canvas, might for a slightly looser crop all the way around, but like it as posted.

Certainly shows the iris fleck well, so probably a female.

Lovely exposure and pose, Bonnie - seems very content on his/her little rock. I like the intersecting waves in the BG.

Bonnie, excellent exposure on the blacks, which in turn has brought out the detail very well. Love the tiny" island" he's standing on, and I like the angle here. Well captured.

Bonnie, Super exposure and details. Love the small rock which provides some viewing for the feet. Very nice composition and head angle. The reds look perfect to me.

I like the look-back pose, sharpness, exposure control and wavelet in the BG.

Would love to see this species. The iris pattern and the delicate white trim to some of the feathers stand out very well.

Something about this image caused me to double take: the ripples behind made the bird look giant with a background of full-size waves. Perhaps it's just me?

Lovely job on the blacks and the colours of the bird. Good for you to catch this one on the little island. Very nice. Dave

Sweet pose you got here. I like the low angle light and detail in the blacks.
