    Default Sandhill Flyby

Was able to break away for a few hours at Bosque this morning. Every now and then one of these will fly by for a close up. Looked for Doug and his group but didn't find him. Just as well since I'd want to use his camera.

Well exposed and great light. No crazy about the comp. I prefer to see the entire bird , but thats just my taste. Still a nice "outside the box" image.

I like the light, eye contact and crop idea and would have raised the ISO to get a higher shutter speed.

Thanks everyone. I keep the shutter speed low as I was practicing my panning technique. Eye on the RAW file is dead center.

Super detail in the eye. I won't be there until tomorrow night, with the 800 f/5.6 lens that Canon is loaning me. :D
