    Default American Bittern in the setting sunlight.

    I caught two of these guys hunting at the Bosque just as the sun was setting.


    Canon MarkIIn
    lens 600mm f/4 Plus a 1.4x
    tripod
    manual mode.
    iso 400 f/5.6 at 1/320

    I removed a few branches around his head.

    I love the way the light just catches the Bittern. I think the pano crop works well here. A bit more eye contact would be nice. And I would remove the light gray twig in front of the bird.

    I like the pano crop as well. Very nice soft colours. I also like the inclusion of habitat. It certainly looks like a hunting pose.

    The spot-lit effect is super; right on the face. I would lose the sharply focused grass behind the bird and wish for a better head turn. They surely are beautiful birds.
