Hi David, it looks like your Nuthatch has caught a meal? Nice eye contact; it looks like there is quite a bit of noise, is this a big crop? At 500mm you probably needed a little faster shutter speed and a higher ISO might have given you that. I'm surely no expert so let's see what the moderators and others have to say. Looking forward to more.

    Agree with Katie's comments !!

... this is a tough angle since normally looks better with dof which is difficult to obtain, would worry first about the shutter speed !!! Might back down in sharpening and go after the head area only.

Did make a good exposure having the eye clearly visible which is very important. Also great on the behavior.. would be neat catching the next one in flight !!!!

    Hi Adrian,
I agree with the fine advise given. The techs. have been covered. I do like the direct eye contact, and the meal is a bonus...:) Would recommend selective sharpening the eye just a tad more...looking forward to your next one...

Thank you very much for your comments!
This is one of my first bird photo with Sigma 150-500 OS, from last year...It is not a large crop, but I've had to use many tricks in PP because I've had a very bright illuminated area by direct sunlight, on the tree...I've posted this, because I was curious about the composition and HA.

HA looks good to me, it looks like the bird is showing its catch to you. I might crop a bit off the bottom for composition but that just a personal taste. By the way, I love the vertical grip pose, very cool.
