The most common woodpecker in my yard is the Red-bellied Woodpecker so named because of the reddish tinge on the breast . This becomes accentuated in breeding season and may go unnoticed the rest of the year.
These have been displaced the last several summers by a family of Red-headed Woodpeckers which then disperse after breeding season and the Red-bellys move back in.

Hi Charles, Nice image with nice light and good details. I like the composition. I like the diagonal the perch introduces. The pose of the bird is pleasing as it shows off the red color of the breast. I like the colors of the background. If this was my image I might blur the background a little to even out the more obvious lines. Thanks for sharing.
Very nice...and I would not complain of the Red-bellied being displaced by Red-headed. It's been a long time since I have seen a Red-headed in my yard. The great eye contact is what pops out the most to me with your image.
