Taken on my SW Florida Tour with James on the Hooptie Deux! I have 2 full days scheduled with him this year to give everyone even more opportunities!
I don't know why I am so drawn to pelicans.....they look kind of akward but I find them quite beautiful (especially in breeding plumage) and they sure can fly!
Canon Mark lll with the Sigma 300-800 @ 501mm and 1/2500 sec at f7.1 and ISO 800. Slight crop all aroung.....hey it wouldn't be me!

Roman, Very nice details and composition. I like the nesting material and the wing position. Beautiful BG also.

    Very nice Roman,
Great pose and the nesting material certainly adds some interesting-ness. I would've preferred a horizontal composition...but if you like'em tight then this is the way to go.

Hi Roman: I too am a pelican lover and have many images of them except that mine are all white pelicans from along the Mississippi River. I love the flight angle, the "crazy eye" which all pelicans seem to have and the fact that it is carrying materials. I also love the background and kind of wish the trees hadn't shown up at the bottom. Beautiful shot though.

Good-looking specimen, nice pose, eye contact and the nesting material adds to it.

    Nice nice!

Seems like you got a very clear view of the back of this pelican. Love the eye contact, and the fact that it is carrying some nesting material makes this one for me, an image well done. I would make the vegetation on bottom a bit greener.

Great banking angle, and I like the detail and colours on the pelican. Im glad you left the foliage at the bottom, and his building material a bonus.

Sweet feather detail and colour. I like the comp with the tree tops at the bottom grounding the image.
The sky looks a bit murky?

Roman I thought I was the only one that thought they were cool, especially in their mating colors. Love the composition and the head angle! Very well done!
