    Came upon a Blacktail Deer this morning in my travels. It was bedded down at the top of a cutbank. I would have liked to give it a little more room at the bottom but the cutbank prevented it. A bit too centered too.

    Canon 50D
    Canon 70-300 IS @ 105mm
    ISO 400
    1/250sec @ f5.0
    Lighting conditions were overcast.

    Very peaceful capture here Chris and as mentioned great eye contact and lovely pose and composition.

    I like animals at rest pictures and this is one healthy looking buck. Nice tall antlers. I also like the quietness that the shaded BG portrays. Would have moved left or right to get the BG tree off of the antler. Preferably left to get the antlers into the open space between the BG trees but it looks like the that would've put slightly more face in shadow if he looked towards you.
