Well back at it with the Hawk series this is one of the shots I was hoping for especially once I got the 600mm
back from repair. This top down view really shows off why its called a Red-tailed Hawk this is an awesome and powerful raptor.:)

Cool banking pose, fanned tail and complementing BG. I might lighten the upper part of the eye a bit. Do you know if one of the feathers on the right wing is bent or missing?

Beautiful Hawk series James. I love the angle you captured them in. Very nice fanned red-tail. Beautiful BG also. Very well done.

nice 'from a parachute' angle. We never see this side of the bird in Dallas :-) I love how each and every feather in the red tail is seen. Big congrats.

Glad you got the 600 back Jim. Love the topside detail in this one. I would probably lighten the iris a little.

Super view here, with a perfect wingspread. Nice neutral BG to bring out the colours on this guy. On the missing feather we can see the "shaft" still sticking out :-)

Perfect banking angle James, and just love that full wingspread and fanned tail. Interesting to see the tail is different in colour to the rest of the plumage. Well captured.

Hi Jim: Had a moment and quickly started scrolling through avian and saw the distinct reddish color of another one of your RTH tails. Composition on this one is very unique and the point-of-view is....well....James S. Copyright at this point (smile). As far as the background goes, and gosh knows what the background is - horizon? ground? etc. - it is beautifully mottled and neutral thus making the bird pop. Keep em comin' because I'll never get tired of these redtails.

Just killer pose!!! Missing feathers not an issue for me....action takes precedence and this rocks!!!! I do agree with a bit of the eye lightening....but this one rocks!

Well you've trumped me with this one Jim!! I have been wanting a good top shot of a redtail for a very long time and haven't gotten it. This rocks-- and definitely says why he's called redtail. Awesome !

You can clearly see how this Hawk got it's name. Great angle and sharpness.

As above, that is one killer fanned tail. You might consider softening up that BKGR a bit.

This realy does show off the wings and tail feathers. I am glad you got some eye contact. Pity about the broken feather at the top but not much you could do about that.
How did you manage to bet this one from above the flying bird, was it from a cliff top?
    I like the image.

What a topside view of this guy James. I love it. The fanned tail and great look at all the wing feathers makes this pretty special.
