    Default What kind of Cormorant?

    I would say non-breeding Double Crested because of the lack of the white throat patch and the fact that it's a much more common cormorant in your area.

    Hi All,

    Additional characters that point to DCCO are the completely orange bill,orange lores- GRCO should always have dark lores.Both Cormorants in immature and basic plumage can lack the white throat patch so you need to be careful. Aswell Great Cormorant can be very orange below the bill like this bird eventhough they are always shown to be more yellow in this area in field guides. I'f I ever get my camera back from the repair shop, I'll get a couple of GRCO photos to post here for comparasion.

    I'll take this one more step and say that this is an immature double crested. You can tell by the brownish, light colored feathers and the lack of emerald eyes.
