    Default 7D- AF under stress test

    Attached Images Attached Images

    The 7D froze this sucker in time, all 8 fps blazing, AF-Expansion, each frame in focus( 20+)....and this dude does run fast, if you know what I mean. This is probably the only frame where he's parallel to me ( the peak moment).
    He came running straight towards me, then made a hard right, ran parallel to me for under a second...then turned right again....no problem for the 7D !!

    I was just informed these guys can top 40 mph...hmm.
    I think Canon has delivered me the camera I had always wanted in a small body. :cool:

    Techs: EOS 7D, @600 mm,300 2.8 IS with Canon 2x tele, ISO 400, 1/1000, f/7.1, hand held, almost FF (cropped from the right)

    C & C is always welcome.

    This is an awesome shot. Those big ole ears and that butt up in the air in mid-stride! I love the golden color as well and the mud on the feet and legs. I think if you brushed over the eye with a stroke of sharpening it would look even cooler. That 300 2.8 does pretty well with the 2X by the way. Great work Kiran.

    I'd say you got him. I like the angle of his body, the slight glance toward you, and the position of the one foot in contact with the ground. Agree with a little touch of sharpening on the eye.

    they are very quick and I'm glad you got 20+ frames in focus...well done. Agree on sharpening the eye. First running hare shot I've seen...:)

    Nice action image and agree with above comments, some more room on left would be good if you have it?

    Wow! I'm jealous! This is a very sharp image, Kiran, and I have to go now - to buy the 7D.....or, should I go for the 1D MIV......?

    Thanks guys, glad you liked it, and thanks for the feedback on the eye. Here's another version with local work done on the eye. Hopefully, it appears a bit sharper now.
    Marc, sadly there was no more room on the left in the original.

    Ajit, Mk4 is not out yet :-)...the 7D is available, if you need a 2nd or 3rd body, give it a try, it's a fun camera and doesn't cost as much as a 1dmk4.

    Kiran,

    I am very pleased to see this as I have just recommended a 7D to a friend.
    I would have doubted very much that Canon would have produced another opportunity to beat up their AF.

    I like the frozen action and are amazed with the quality with a 2 x TC. Looks like Canon really came up with a very good mid range DSLR. Good tracking capabilities too. Well done on this one Kiran and TFS.

    A great image to prove that 7D has a goot focus tracking ability. Great action shot here, the lighting is making a lot of difference here.

    The second one looks much better; it seems you boosted some contrast as well as sharpened the eye. This one needs to be printed large to check out the real quality on the print!!

    Excellent shot. We were very lucky that morning..

    @Vivek: Nope, no changes besides darkening a few pixels (not even sharpening). This is almost FF, btw,the RAW looks mighty fine at 100% too. Tried to do justice on the web version as much as I could.

    I've printed ISO 5000 images from this camera, it's all good.

    @Kiran : Buy it, Bro.

    @Dan, Clement, Hendry, Harshad,Ken : Thanks, you guys !

    Mighty fine image Kiran Love the mid air pose, eye contact and perfect timing !! The camera delivered but took some doing for tracking at that magnification !!! Big Congrats

    ...btw re post looks really nice with the added sharpening around the eye, for these would also try the whiskers !!!

    Dave, John, Danny, Thanks, guys !

    Al, thanks a lot, yes, it was a bit of an effort, but the 7D made it somewhat easier.
    Will try the whiskers, thx for the tip !
