    Default Northern Gannet

I went on a pelagic trip off Cape May yesterday. The weather was great and the sea pretty calm. Unfortunately, during the 8 hours we were on the sea we didn't find any tubenoses and seeing alcids was a longshot to begin with. The only good find were some parasitic jaegers but they didn't come close. The gannets were more cooperative. I added a bit canvas at the bottom.

Love the wing position and the bird angling slightly towards you.

Hi Axel: This image sneaks up on you. It is subtle but beautiful and I love the muted colors on the bird. The sky looks great and the comp is very nice. I really like the gannet's strange-looking little eye as well.

Axel, Excellent capture and must say I love this plumage compared to the adults and you pulled off plenty of detail here. Sorry about the tubenoses not showing. Congrats

I like the flight angle here, and interesting colours on the gannet. Im glad you have eight hours of sea legs. Unfortunately I dont have five minutes.

Thanks, David! I think it is a second-year juvi based on the 'piano' pattern on the upper wings.

Pretty darn nice Axel! Nice wing position, exposure, and sharpness. I've never seen juvi plumage before.
