This is a Jerusalem artichoke flower that I photographed this past summer. The BG was originally high-key; I added a blue gradient and clouds in PS. I also applied a slight orton effect. Any C&C are welcome!

what a nice sunshiny image! I had to ask what all of the bits done to it were, so I might try to do this at home. Love this treatment, and the colors rock!

Katherine, Here are the steps I used to create this image:
    1) I ran the render clouds filter, after first masking out the flower.
    2) I added a gradient fill layer running from blue to transparent over the BG and set it to 70% opacity.
    3) I added an orton effect which was done by stamping visible, setting the new layer to screen blend mode, stamping visible again and blurring it in gaussian blur(for this image I used about 22 radius), then setting the blur layer to multiply blend mode, and finally reducing the opacity of both the top layers to about 80%.

Thanks everyone for your comments. Much appreciated!

    Nice image and application.

Might add a touch more contrast to the background. But ...

    Your image ... your vision.
