The light was nice when this fellow finally perched in the open. But I'm not crazy about his selection of a perch, and don't quite know what to think about the BG. Would appreciate C&C.

that is some VERY nice light!! and the sharpness looks great. i like the composition and the contact with the bird. the perch is a little large. the blurred bg is nice, only wished the dark portion wasnt intersecting with the top of the head. nice job, bill!!

This is one sweet image and capture Bill,
I like the diagonal perch. The little fellow ports a good head angle and sharp eye contact, with good color rendition and fine feather details. My only recommendation would be to tone down the white areas just a tad, not too much...looking good...keep them coming...

Love the sharpness, the HA, the eye contacts and the fine feather details. I don't mind about the perch that much. As for the background I do like the white are that kind of go around the bird (except one dark spot on top of the head), kind of highlighting the bird for me, look artful.

Hi Bill - agree with all of the above - For my personal taste and thats all it is - just a bit tight top and bottom.
    Lots to like here.
    Congrats:)

Just needed a darker bg Bill !!! Eye sort of goes to the light area !! You did mighty fine in all areas and made the best possible from your location !!!

Really like the bird you maintained very nice detail. Not thrilled with the BG either.

I really like the background, the colors are rich and the transition is smooth and soft-looking; nice detail in the sparrow and, for me, it's a bit tight all around (can't believe I'm saying that because I'm usually corpping too tight!)
