Well a break from the raptor shots here is what I think is a young Mockingbird in transition to adult plumage.

A special bird. Love the BG and eye contact. The perch seems cumbersome, is this a set-up? Can you share more details like ISO rating and f/?

Love it! The pose and BG are great. Nice perch in a natural setting.

Very nice, I like the complimentary colors of the breast and the background. Good perch, HA and eye. Sharp, but it could use a bit more DOF to get the tail sharper.

Like the perch and BG Jim. A bit more eye contact would be nice.

James, your comp works well, and I like the angle of the mockingbird. Lovely complimentary colours in the BG.

James, Very natural looking perch and pose. I love the eye on Mockingbirds and this one really shines. Nicely done.

Interesting perch and good complementing BG. I might lower the midtones a bit.

Hi James: I'm with Denise on the eye. Mockingbirds have a very distinct eye color. I only noticed that this week when I photographed one and it has that same interesting eye color as yours, which by the way matches your background nicely. Your shot is beautifully sharp and well done as usual. Take care.

Great look at the eye James. I love the weathered looking perch and the birds position on it. You timed your capture well. I am curious though as to what the bg pink color is. The color is similar to your Sharp Shinned Hawk image and is a very pretty color. I just wondered what it was.
