Hi. I usually hang out over at OOTB, since my post-processing style is a bit out-of-the ordinary. For the sake of full disclosure I thought I'd post an example of a base image similar to the one I posted yesterday at OOTB. I might also add that this is a little bird, probably a juvenile, and a bit smaller than a least sandpiper.
    comments and critique welcomed. regards~Bill

You nailed this one - exposure techs are spot on, like the smaller aperture (better DoF). Sharp eye, whites have good texture and the composition placement is perfect for my taste. Sharpness is well done too, very good all over. Additionally, you caught the bird in an action position and I love the foot-work - well done William.

Really nice piper Bill! Sharpness, angle, exp and bg are right on! Now, I could be wrong, but I think that this is a juvenile Spotted Sandpiper:). Whatever, you did a great job with the capture!

Thanks Jeff and Dan. I could very well be incorrect on the ID. I have a pretty good grasp on the saltwater peeps, but freshwater, not so much. Jeff: now a critique on the critique! Good job, covered points in an orderly and well thought out manner. regards~Bill

Fine looking image Bill !!! Like the angle, pose and bg !! About all I would do is take a little of the bottom (not much) and if you have it a wouldn't mind slight more room up top !!

PS wise looks strong, fine from my end !!! Something that can be done if disclosed and depending on purpose is cleaning up the bill shine Love this image Big Congrats !!!

Excellent composition, image and capture Bill...the color rendition and fine sharp details are super. You have a good head angle and sharp eye. Congrats...

Lots to like here, Bill, and I have no opinion of which sandpiper this would be as they are very confusing to me.

Bill - I concur with Dan, this is a juv Spotted Sandpiper. And this is one terrific image thereof. Along with the well written comments above I can add that the capture of the moving water adds a lot to the dynamic of the whole image. I'd be over the moon if it were mine.
    Cheers

fantastic light, bill. would take a sliver off the bottom and add it back up top along with cleaning the sheen off the bill if not against your style. other than that, perfect for me. i like the rock and the moving water!

I really appreciate the comments! Cropping suggestions and reducing the sheen on the bill are good ideas. I said solitary sandpiper...I meant it was alone, by it self, and of course I knew it was a spotted sandpiper. Just kidding! regards~Bill
