I love the way the twigs frame the bird. Wonderful face on these owls. Love the comp as well.

Really nice owl. Good thing you could find it. Flash did a great job in here.
I it were mine, I would clone out the offending branch right next to the head of the bird.

Great looking barred owl shot Fabs, in its natural habitat during its natural hunting time. As usual with barred owls the talons look awesome in the shot. The entire owl by the way is nice and sharp. I would say that the eyes appear dark if I didn't have five or six barred owl photos in my files that look the same way. That is just how barred owl eyes look -- very dark -- and I've learned to accept it. Finally, I have to say that I kind of like the limb over its left eye. Just a matter of taste.

Very nice, Fabs--I love the composition--and I did not even see the branch on the right until it was mentioned. It does not take anything away from the image for me.
    Great job even finding one!

Great shot Fabs. I really like the composition and the darkness around the bird and your flash work is about perfect.

Nice Fabs, love the details. Would clone out the branch to the light and lighten the BG slightly.

    Fabs:

The bird is excellent, nice flash use/exposure.

I do find the blurred branch in the lower left corner a bit bothersome, might ease up on the effect a bit to allow a more natural looking change in focus.

Good flashwork Fabs, and really sharp for such a slow ss. Great job on the eyes too.

I like the natural habitat in this one Fabs. I also think you did great with the flash. It seems to me that for an image to be "accepted" it always has to have a perfectly clean bg, not.
