Adorable birds, great to have both in frame. There seems to be noise all over the image, even for ISO 3200, could you have at least cleaned the BG some more? And selectively sharpen the one in the front since the focus is on the one in the back. Would have preferred a natural perch, of course, no idea how difficult that would be.
    Thanks so much for sharing.

Please PM Alfred Forns, we use real names here :) He can change it for you.

Thanks for the comments. I would love to know how to clean up this type of image properly. I have run it through Neat Image and then selected the BG and added gaussian blur twice. I use Elements 8. Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

    Thanks

Rob, I use Noiseware Pro, as recommend by our professional re-toucher David Thomasson, and it does a pretty good job with color noise, that seems to be the problem here.
You may be able to try it for free.
I just ran your jpeg through it, it would probably be better in the big file, but check out the results. One pass only.

Good clean-up job by Fabs, it did wonders to the image. I also agree with her critique. Nice to have the two of them together like this. I like the comp alot even with the merging of individuals (if anything I wish the top bird's foot was completely in the clear). Both looking in the same direction despite opposing body angles is very cool :-)

Nice overall colors and BG. Not a fan of the metal fence. Issue here is noise and lack of detail even after feather detail after clean up. In this case I would have used a tripod with lower shutter speed to keep ISO below 1600. There is not much you can do when data in RAW is lost due to noise.
