    Default Heron with Nesting Material

    This GBH was collecting nesting material early one February morning at the Venice Rookery. Looks like he has all he can handle in one trip! All C & C welcomed.

    Good job in catching him with the nesting material and good EXP also. Flash helped you with the sharpness at 1/60. Wish he had given you a better head angle but I know GBH could be very stubborn about that. Good specimen with a pretty clean bill too!

    A better HA is all that is missing here. I like the close-up portrait with a great view of the nesting material.

    I am thinking that with the head turned slightly away the sticks and grasses closest to us were rendered sharp.... Good job all around esp. the EXP and the fill flash.

    Thanks for the feedback. And, Artie, you're right on about the head angle. I had a couple of shots with better head angles, but not enough DOF to keep the needles sharp when the head turned!

    That's what I was talking about! Hey, did you hear how they are dealing with the problem of folks crossing the tracks? They have not put any water in the NRR pond. Plus, there is zero corn.
