    Default The stalker



    This photo of a Crowned Lapwing was taken at The Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens, near to where I stay. This is probably the most common Lapwing in our neck of the woods, but the contrasting colors and wonderful reds in this bird still make them awesome subject.

    This guy was hunting for (and finding quite a few) worms :D

    Lens: Canon 400L f5.6

    ISO: 250
    Aperture: 7.1

    Very nice. Lapwing or Plover?? I saw a good few of these on my trip to KNP.

    I love that pose, he's really concentrating, stalking or something?

    Hi Victor: Already said, but I agree this is a sweet image with beautiful subject, pose, composition and buttery background. This is a real winner and one of my favorites of the day. Great shot man.

    Harsh light dealt with as best you could. Nice low angle, and hunting pose. The taller light grass at left catches my eye a bit - if your ethics permit it you could "prune" it a bit (patch and/or clone tools). I kinda wish the feet had more separation in order to avoid the shadow on the far foot. Did you mange some images with caught worms?
