    Default Giraffe Kill #3

    Attached Images Attached Images

Continuing my mini story on this sighting, the link below was taken on a early friday afternoon. As stated, all we saw was the lone lioness having her share. This image was taken on the following sunday morning on our way out of the park. No sign of the lioness, and not much left of the giraffe carcass either. This huge male kept dragging the carcass further into the bush. Notice how camouflaged the other male is lying in the BG. This is a typical scene at a kill, with the normal scavangers trying to get their turn at a piece of the action. Jackals, vultures, and there was a hyena just out of the image too. Overcast conditions in the Kruger National Park.

Like this Stuart, with the Jackal & Vulture waiting in the wings and his bro in the BG. Great habitat image!

Your green with envy?? Please..... yourself and Stuart can pack up and go for a long weekend to the Kruger or the
Kgalagadi how good is that!! While us mere mortals have to plan and save in the hope we can make it to Sth/East Africa maybe every 1-2 years or so if we're lucky!:p:p:p

    Thank you all so much.

Marc, Kruger for a weekend will work, but Kgalagadi is pushing it for distance for a weekend mate. Would still love to visit your wonderful country, so its a bit of saving for me too.

Too true Stuart, my definition of a long weekend can stretch to 5 days.;)

Fabulous shot Stu. Love the elements and that Lion hiding away there adds masses of interest. Love the story being told.

Wow a really interesting image Stuart . It tells the story of life in Africa. There is definitely a plan for many species to survive through a kill. Like this a lot Stuart. Great composition.

    Hi Stuart,
Love the habitat and activity here. Didn't even notice the lion in the BG until I read your description. Good thing I don't hike there!
