Small clump of mushrooms on a nice fall day in the PNW. We really had a lot of fun looking for things to photograph that day.

    Canon 7D, 100mm F2.8L, @F5.6, 1/250 sec, iso 800, AWB.

Nice mushroom clump and good texture in the wood in the FG. I wonder, though, if a little fill flash or a reflector would have lightened up some of that very dark area just to the right of the fungi.

Susan, was this on the ground or growing up a tree? It's an interesting angle you caught here.

this clump of mushrooms was growing up in a tree. it was quite the balancing act to get this photo. I agree a fill flash would have been a good option, but did not have my flash with me at the time.

Hey Susan, I agree with the fill light, I always carry a 12" reflector and have use it many times for this type of shot. Works really well and it's less hassle then carrying a flash. I like the deails, but wish it had more DOF to even out the details through to the top.
